Need suggestions-Budget-priced rangefinder
« on: July 13, 2015, 08:06:12 AM »
Looking for ideas for a rangefinder that will be used on the golf course, archery stand and rifle hunting.
Always looking for value....Last year's closeout, used high-end, whatever.
I know nothing about rangefinders other than how they work.
Thanks for suggestions.

My buddies have picked up some rangefinders on Camofire pretty cheap.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Range finders are legal for golf?  Not that I care, or even play but that seems odd.

I’ve used an entry level Nikon for years; don’t remember the model but it was about $130 and ranges out to 500 yards.  It has served me well.

Finding one for the golf course and hunting is hard to do.  Most golf range finders have a pin seeker technology that hunting range finders dont come with.  I've taken my Bushnell scout to the golf course manly use it to hit lips of bunkers or some sort of slope or hill just gives you a rough guess on what to carry or what not.

I'm not sure how many yards you need. You can usually get a Bushnell 450 for around $100-120 if you look around.

So would a golf rangefinder with this technology be a hindrance while hunting?

 :yeah:

For hunting, make sure you get one that compensates for angle.  I carry the Vortex and would get another one in a heartbeat, their entire line is known for value.

My buddy's Nikon was abou $200. It isn't as bright as my $500 Leica, but ranges just as good and sometimes better on low contrast objects.

Thanks.
I contacted the guy and it was sold.
Dick's has a Nikon Prostaff 7 on sale for $199.
I think I'm going in that direction.
