Went to check my cams yesterday.....my main area is closed by the owners.....fire danger. Shucks........don't think I will get to hunt it for deer/bear this year. I need to go knock on a door and ask if I can walk in and pull my cams.

Never tried bear hunting...but ran into two of them checking my elk cameras in the 560....

I've got the same problem with my cams, and it really bums me out that I may be sitting bear out when I was so close twice last year.  Oh well, looking for new spots is never a bad thing.

Heck yeah, Mt. Baker forest here I come!  Backpacking up to the high country on July 31, pitch the tent, get some sleep, pressing 'start' on the season come the AM on Aug 1.

Now that we're close...

August 1st, is a Saturday. I'm going to be out there. I have a place I've been scouting. It should be an awesome experience... kayaking in, hiking some, camping, glassing and glassing, spotting (hopefully), stalking, etc...

I predict good times.

I'm getting ready for a solo backpacking excursion into the Olympics.  Finishing up some handloads for my 280 Ackley tonight.  Did a scouting trip last weekend and the huckleberry fields are primed.  If I'm successful going to have to do a quick debone and stage meet in a creek bottom while I leap frog it out to the trail head.
The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

i know that the taller huckleberries are ripe up high. Are the shorter blueberries ripe too? usually they are a few weeks after the hucks....
