No need to go over anytime soon...visibility is about 100-200 yards...now way to scout anything in the Chelan valley until the Wolverine Cr fire dies down.

We're working on it.. Give us some time :chuckle:
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

Hirshey...that's one way to get some pre-high hunt scouting done!...when you get a chance, maybe give the guy who has the South Shore goat tag on here some info on how bad his hunt has been affected...I feel bad for that guy, but maybe he can get a different tag or his points back...and be safe up there, that's a dangerous fire given where its at (but you know that already) and thanks for helping save Lucerne...my Dad has one of the boat club cabins up there.

OMG, finally got the bow out today.  Thank goodness I can still pull it back... and hit the bullseye, at least to 35 yards.   :chuckle:

lokdog,

Just FYI...but all FS roads in the valley are closed right now...the Black Canyon Fire is on the backside of your unit, and so far the Manson Unit sheep are not in danger of any fires...but there is no need to go over to scout for now with the roads closed, so you might as well as go fishing! Let me know when the kings and Coho start showing up in big numbers...any day now!

Thanks for the update.

Haven't heard of any coho yet up here, they seem to be sticking to the south side of the straits.  There have been a fair number of kings being caught as well as some sockeye still being picked up though.

Not sure when I will be able to get over but would love to deer hunt with you guys if the opportunity would arrise while I am seeing where the sheep are.

What do you think the chances are of getting within bow range (50 yards) of a decent ram?  I'd really like to try to get one with my bow, but am also realistic.  I do have plenty of time to hunt though thanks to my wonderful wife.

Got my new broadheads from RadSav today.     Looking forward to slapping a couple on my arrows and seeing how they fly for me.  Pretty sure I'd take a 55 yard shot if necessary with the bow at this point, but will keep at it.  Hopefully I can stick an elk just to make sure these things work.   :chuckle:
