I have no advice on the rut status, however good luck with all of it Loki.  I can't wait to see what you drum up.

I wasn't in your area but definitely noticed rut behavior pick up this last week. The big guys were coming out and starting to take control. A lot of the smaller rams were cruising the ridge tops looking for hot ewes. Your hunt should be a blast! Good luck

Thanks everyone.

Anyone want to come visit and be the boat tender?  I'm a little worried about access off the lake if it gets windy since the shoreline is pretty inhospitable.  I do have a bungee anchor system to try to keep it off the rocks though.

Good trout fishing along the shore as well.

Whit, I have a 19' Alumaweld Stryker.  Boss300winmag and I will be over there from the afternoon of the third through at least the 10th or 11th, unless one of the monsters let me walk right up to him on day one.   8)  We will be camping at either Mitchell Creek or Deer Point.

Didn't get the tent, so looks like Mitchell creek. I've got tarps, screws, and lath.

Oh how exciting! I'm rooting for you and hope to at least shake your hand and help stake down some tent poles :)
I am not opposed to golf, for I suspect it keeps armies of the unworthy from discovering deer.

Long range forecast is mid 30's at night with highs about 50, low winds, partly to mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain on Friday and Saturday.  I don't know if we will need to tarp the shelter too much.

I'm sorry you won't be around for the opener hirshey.

All you need is firewood for that shelter. You will be fine you have all month. :) The lake level is dropping daily though.
