Way better than merganser!

:chuckle:  I'll agree.  It tasted great!  I like mutton, so figured I would like it, however, as Weathergirl said it was really mild.

Wait until you eat that Chuckar!  Weathergirl will be sending you packing for more as soon as you do.  Those are some good eating birds   I used to always save some for buffalo wing style on Super Bowl Sunday!

Congrats Ed!!! That is one great old warrior you got.  The battle scars and nose are AWSOME!.  Great write up. My legs hurt reading it :-)  I only wish I could have made it over to help.  I kinda like that punishment.  Alas a trophy to be proud of with a great story to match.

Thanks again everyone.  Total meat was 51 pounds.  The head, upper neck, cape and horns weighed 42.

Great write up and even better ram. Having tasted this same experience myself, I know it's an adventure you will think back on with great pride every time you look up at that head on the wall

I do believe you are right, Cousin!  Chukar and quail were delicious just like many meals this past week!   :EAT:

I was really surprised at how tender the legs were.  I breasted it and fried the legs seperately, dipped in egg and cornflake crumbs.  Wish they were closer to get more.
