Top five wild game chow

Figured I'd start this here. Mods, please move if you deem appropriate.  Only 4 legged critters, no birds or fish. What are your top 5 game critters you prefer for their taste?  MMmm, that is a tasty burger 😏

I'll start with mine. Elk, Moose, WT deer, Caribou, Hogs, BG sheep.

No right or wrong answers, what's tasty to you?

Elk, buffalo, deer (all), rabbit, antelope and berry fed black bear.

Well, the squirrels back home are quite a different critter than the little fir squirrels round here. Fox, grays, reds, oh my, challenging sport,  some as big as a cat. Great eating.

I can't tell much difference between deer, elk, and antelope when it's ground. Is that just me or is anybody else like  :dunno: ?

1 - Dall Sheep
2 - Alligator (you said 4 legged critters) ;)
3 - Axis Deer
4 - AZ Javalina (no skunk pigs from TX)
5 - Antelope (blackbuck over pronghorn but either makes it here)

Wheat/Alfalfa mule deer would be a dang close pic.

If talking Washington OTC 1-5 could change in any order depending on feed.  But assuming they all were eating the best feed for taste available for each species it would look like this;

1 - Mule Deer (Wheat/Alfalfa mix)
2 - Bear (Mountain Huckleberries)
3 - Whitetail (Alfalfa)
4 - Black Tail (Blackberries, forbs and fireweed roots)
5 - Rocky Mtn. Elk (Huckleberries)

Beaver could easily be thrown in there too!


Wife's would be close to the same.  But for her I think elk and whitetail would probably be flipped.  She likes elk more than WT and BT.
