Any guys powder coat their tent stoves?
« on: July 19, 2015, 11:44:50 AM »
I have a large cylinder stove for our wall tent, I've sanded it and put stove paint on it in the past.  It's now starting to get surface rust, I know there are other options. But, I was thinking about having it powder coated, what do you guys think or have you done this before?

I would ask a couple powder coating companies about it, mainly if it would hold up to the heat.

A quick google search and I found this:

How hot do our fires get inside the wall tent? Medium or high heat?

We deal a lot with mt baker powder coating in Bellingham.  we have them coat custom fireplace doors, surrounds, and grates.  They stand up to heat really well no issues that I'm aware of.
They do gun coating too

Not worth it. The cost to powder coat you could buy a new one. Just wire wheel it and high heat paint it again. Don't forget to start a small fire to set the paint. I repaint my stoves ever season after the hunts. They look great   :twocents:
