Travel Trailer Camp Area - Bear Hunting Alpine Lakes
« on: July 21, 2015, 09:48:38 PM »
Hello!

I went up to my annual bear camping area outside of Leavenworth and it was closed until further notice. I normally haul up a travel trailer and setup a base camp so my wife knows where to find me if she needs me. I am looking for a new area to setup basecamp now since my normal campground is closed. I bear hunt the alpine lakes area and outside of Skykomish and/or Leavenworth. Any campground recommendation would be great. I can use hookups or go off the grid. It will be just me and one friend this year so my wife insisted I take the trailer and not tent camp. Willing to meet new friends/hunters too and join forces. I am married with 4 kids (11 years old to 1 month old) my friend is married with 3 kids (16 years to 10 years), meaning we "try" to be responsible. No kids or wives on this trip but willing to make new hunting partners.

I am all ears and will scout out this weekend looking for a new camp area, hopefully with new friends!

Cheers and good luck!

Thanks again for the suggestion and info!

How big are we talking for your trailer as Money creek won't take very big. I wouldn't waste my time up Miller or Money creek.

Yeah, it looks like my trailer is too big for most of the off the grid campgrounds. It is just over 30' and I tow with a dodge ram megacab 2500, so I am not going to be getting in any of those areas with the trailer. I was pointed in the direction of Lake Wenatchee State Park and around there and it might be my best bet.

Thanks again everyone! Your help and time is truly appreciated!!!

If you are familiar with the Lake Wenatchee/Fish Lake area, there are many small campgrounds that you can fit your rig into.  Take the Chiwawa River Rd. from Fish Lake towards Trinity.  You will find about half a dozen small campgrounds between Fish Lake and Trinity.  We have camped at one called Atkinson Flats.

I am not too familiar with that area, but I am on a scouting mission now. Looks like a lot of the state parks are closed or have fire restrictions in place. I will check out the areas between Trinity and Fish Lake. That might put me in a good area to hunt north of hwy 2 at the same time. Somewhere somewhat new for me, thanks!

There is also Nason Creek campground, just off of Hwy 2 toward Lake Wenatchee, about 3 miles or so, on your left.  It may be real popular at this time of year.

The rest stop?   I've camped there.

No, not the rest stop.  The Nason Creek Campground is a beautiful little campground, with 73 sites.
