area 329 (north of vantage)... if snow in the mountians to push em out of the reserve above, lots of elk in the canyons heading down to the columbia... spike only area, but I've gotten one every year there was snow in the mountians... never seen a thing the other years...

   you cant hunt the south side of the freeway where there are lots of elk but hard to find.  by permit only.  we have taken 3 elk out and a bunch of deer.   mike w

You may want to reconsider your rifle option and try archery sometime? Much more peacfull and more of a hunting experience and not so much of a hearding  the elk experience....... :twocents:

Josie is pretty young if memory serves.  I would say muzzleloader possibly but starting archery AND hunting all at the same time is kind of overwhelming in my opinion.
:chuckle: right on the money Jonathan I'm 15.Yeah I don't even have a bow yet (but I'm saving up and half way there!) but I will consider it for next year.
