I put together some targets...

I put together some targets. The AR500 metal plates are ridiculously tough. I like the metal conduit frames better than the wood frames:

I like the conduit one the best. But instead of rocks, what about sand bags to hold it down? When you hang a steel target rather than make it stationary. There is less wear on the steel plate because most of the impact is taken up b y the swinging when it is hit. Good job on the targets. How far out did you put them?

Thanks for the sandbag idea...

Yeah, we set them out to 100 yards for rifle shooting, and then moved them in to <20 yards for pistol shooting.

Yeah, steel plates, bowling pins, milk jugs of water, empty small propane bottles. The little green ones. Anyway watching something react to you shooting it, is fun. They call the above targets, reactive targets. A little different feeling, rather than punching holes in paper. But shooting is shooting so I am cool with both ways.

My biggest thing is being able to be mobile when shooting, I cant stand going to shooting ranges where you have to remain stationary. I like to practice shooting unsupported even with my larger caliber rifles.

I despise shooting ranges... with all their rules. The closest range to me only allows you to put one cartridges in your rifle at a time. So annoying. For that $12 fee I can buy a lot of fuel and drive out of town a ways. That and I don't have to feel like I'm 12 and my Dad is watching over my shoulder.
