Wherever you decide on going, better go fast. The rut came a week or so early and by next weekend will be over IMO.

Good luck. Hoping to see some pics of a bruiser

Saw a few more rubs in Mason county- nothing great so we're heading east tomorrow- hopefully we will see a few deer including  a buck or two!

Been elk hunting in Grays harbor the last three days. No luck there, but man have we been seeing the deer. Today we started seeing big bucks including one very tall, very heavy 3x3 who was with a big fork. Looks like the rut is just starting here from what we've been seeing.

( posting under Hubby's log-in)

update:
Well we had to go back to work this week- I work 12 hour shifts so  we won't be able to go out until friday morning. Hubby is gonna grab the cards out of a couple trail cameras tomorrow, so hopefully there will be something good there.
Thinking about heading back to West Klickitat to give it another go over Thanksgiving- we are doing our holiday meal this weekend so will have a few days off next week again.
Still thinking about how to get one!
thanks for the interest!

My wife drawing this tag is a little like winning the lottery and how many people that win the lottery go bankrupt . That's a little how we feel . We put everything into this , exhausted  all are vacation . Between Oct. 28 and Nov. 31 there was only 5 days that we did not get out . That does not count the time we spent in Sept. trying to fill our archery tags and early Oct. scouting .We've seen a lot of deer , well over 250 does and a bunch of spikes and 2 points just not the buck we were looking for . I don't know if it's bad timing or bad luck . One example , over Thanksgiving weekend we found a buck that we had on camera ,  a nice 4x4 with good eye guards , that was working his rub line . One afternoon I set up a scent wick with blacktail urine to see if he would show up . The next morning we check it and he had shown up along with 2 other deer so I put some more scent on the wick and made a drag trail . I set Susie up about a 100 yards off in a blind and I head off with my bow to another area . A couple hours later she shoots , I head to her location and she informs me that a cougar had come in . As we approach the spot were the cougar was and we get snorted by one deer above us and 2 below . Just the way it's gone this year . She missed the cat cleanly , we were in the snow and I was able to follow the tracks quite a ways and there was no blood. We're still after it though , 10 more days in the month and we should be able to get out 4 of them maybe 5 . At this point if it has antlers it's going down .
We really are ready to move on . Almost every time we've gone into the woods we have seen predators and every time we've heard coyotes . It's time to do some  predator management .

Thanks for the update.  The title of this thread really got me thinking about what I would do. I absolutely love BT but it is because of the challenge that comes along with hunting them. No matter the outcome I an sure you made a season that is unforgettable.  Good luck and never say die.

Good luck, hopefully there will be a good Christmas present or pre New Year's gift waiting in the woods.  Bummer about missing the cougar.  I'd give up any of the deer I've shot in the last ten years for a shot at a cougar.

Susie posting here under Justyhntr's log in :)

That day that the cougar came in the  tripod attachment on my rifle had broken off, so I was quite a bit more unstable than when the tripod was attached to my gun-- difficult to shoot to say the least with  that kind of excitement esp with broken equipment. But it was an awesome sight.

All excited to go out this past Saturday and hmmm got the stomach bug on Thursday , still too weak to go out Saturday morning. okay then ,  excited to go out Sunday, Hubby gets the bug.  puking his guts out. that is kind of how the season has been.WTH :( but we probably wouldn't have been out in the woods to see all those does, the cougar, probably 4 bobcat, and everything else we've seen this year, if I didn't have that tag.
I hope we can get a few more hours in the woods  before the year's over, crossing my fingers. hopefully with decent hunting weather too.
Susie
