My daughter drew the youth any deer tag for the Olympic unit, Nov 17-23.  Should be a pretty good tag for her to get her first deer.  I haven't been up in that area very much, let alone hunted that area at all.  Does any one have any information on where to hunt so we can start scouting the area?

Thank You
Scott

My son had that tag last year. I didnt realize that it started after late buck or I wouldnt have applied him for it. If you are after any deer it wont be to hard to find a doe. Keep in mind its a general deer unit and that hunt starts after the late buck so the deer have been hunted pretty steady and rut is over. The foothills above Sequim and Pt Angeles just above the private have plenty of deer. We got ours up Deer Park Rd. Good luck, its always good to get the kids out.... nwhunter

The rut isn't over but it's peaking around that time.  Late modern last year i was calling in bucks with estrous calls.  Things are still plenty hot and heavy around that time.

I would say the 3-5 year old cuts are best in that unit.  They tromp all through them.  I spooked a few rutting pairs last year because i was an idiot.  Utilize calls.  A doe might be better eating though.

I sometimes think 621 is like option overload.  What style will you be looking to do?  Like mentioned above, the foothills have lots of animals.  A lot of the forest service land hasn't been logged much, but there's some recently thinned areas above Sequim, kind of steep in parts.  There are small parcels of private on the border with FS land that have good cuts/reprod, might be worth a try before late season--most people in the area check those first thing.  If there's snow might head up the mountain roads where the roads cross ridges.
