When a timber company closes their land?

If there is a sign saying close to public entry posted on a gate....then it's closed plain and simple.

Unless you are a permit holder..........

Unless you are a permit holder carrying all the required fire gear.  Not sure I can remember everything required right now, but I know it included a shovel, axe and certain size/type fire extinguisher.  You could lose your access rights even with a permit if you do not have these items with you during fire season.



Here we go - from last weeks Weyco email:

As we go into another hot and dry weekend we wanted to remind our permittees to make sure they have the proper fire tools with them when entering the permit area.

1.   During fire season, Permittee must carry a shovel, axe and a properly functioning U.L.- approved fire extinguisher 5 pound BC minimum.  Permittee must notify the Department of Natural Resources at 800-562-6010 or by calling 911 if any fires are observed.

I have seen at least once where a fire closure had been lifted and all the signs were not removed yet. This was St. Helens. Hotline said open for walk-in. Signs saying no access were still up. Called the main office and they said to go ahead- it would take awhile to clear all the signs.

This was after substantial rain in September. I don't think this is the situation OP's case.

Im sure if the timeing is right and you get the right person on the line , just be ready with a credit card and your in, for crap sakes your in Washington state, money can get you anywhere, all that sign is really telling you is do you know someone that knows someone who they can call that has a number they know that will get you to the money collecter, just ask my 84 year old uncle, that guy knows a guy that knows a guy , all this clown does is run a chainsaw and semi trailer for wheyerhouser I think it is , but any way that guy can get in anywhere and he takes my uncle with him everytime, I think its his camp cooking  but he got a black tail last year  my uncle says they didn't here or see a person or a vehicle in the four days up there,i keep asking for that guys number but all I get is call that other guy, ya real funny uncle Emry !!
