Kifaru gear interchangeable?
« on: July 26, 2015, 04:33:46 PM »
Bought a Bikini frame at a smoking price. Got it mainly for pack out comfort. Really can't afford their bags, so was going to use a combo of their pods, pockets, and accessories,  for a super light dayhunt set-up. Already got a gen2meatbag.  I've scoured the site here, and elsewhere, and it does appear all the stuff I mentioned does work with frame alone. But appears and seems aren't enough for this po' boy.

So, can someone tell me definitively that "yes, it will"   or nope.  Thanks.

Yes, it all works together as long as you have enough connection points available for what you want to do.

Check out the cargo panel. $140, and is covered in molle webbing so you can attach any Kifaru pockets or pods to it, and haul gear or meat between it and the frame.

agree with 7mag, the cargo panel would be a good edition for your usage. couple pockets on there for gear.

Watch Rokslide for a highcamp bag. Have seen them in there for pretty cheap.

I've got on delivery in addition to the meat bag and grab it 1, the medium roll top pod, gunbearer.  As far as the panel, I'm looking at Hill People gear's panel. About $100 cheaper. Will a Kuiu hip pouch work? Ten bucks is cheaper than thirty. Thanks.

PS- any hands on thoughts about the gunbearer,  or is it something I'll end up on the classifieds?

Personally, I don't like the gunbearer, but some people swear by them.

The Kuiu hip belt pouches will fit, but I don't like them. They take two hands to zip or unzip them. The Kifaru is one handed operation.

Hey there Mountainwalker. From a guy who has a few years messing around with just about everything Kifaru has put out. Mixing and matching stuff is what I love to do. Arnt to many of the kifaru products I havent had in my hands in one capacity or another.  Sometimes you need a few spare buckles or 3 bar sliders to add to the system but it hasnt been an issue for me at all. I use alot of gear from Kifaru and its a company thats I rely on heavily for my comfort when I go out in the field. I have met some of the finest people in my days because of Kifaru and the gear they make. Ive also spent some great times in the field using it also.

Ok, now maybe I'm smarter than the pack, and maybe I ain't, but hooking up the gunbearer is giving me fits. Any help out there?

My trash finally showed up, and I am super impressed. Its a little louder than I'd imagined, the fabric, but stuffed full, it's probably no real issue.  Read in another thread that someone had issues with the meat bag. Well, this one has only one opening, a super stout hang loop, and held two 45's hanging for hours, no problem.

The frame is the greatest thing since the 30'06. I've been a laborer my whole life, and now I'm 34, and I'm getting hip issues.  Years of hard work and hundreds of miles in the saddle have wrecked my posture.  Wearing the frame feels amazing and really acts as an aid to help straighten my back and shoulders into a straight line. So awesome!
Also, now I know what "functional" load lifters are! The old Badlands and E-stock tried, but didn't quite get it. I really wish I would have bitten the bullet about four years ago.

  Thanks for reading.

The top part gives me the trouble.  Bottom bucket has two pieces of hardware. Fixed one through one of the waist straps, kinda where it angles (?) ,thanks

The bottom piece has 2 threebar sliders that go through 2 molle loops on the waist belt. The top piece is supposed to attach to your shoulder strap. I don't like the rifle barrel in my face, or the weight hanging from my waist belt. That's why I don't use my gun bearer.
