I know this is old but winter camping at Potholes state park is fun. I'm old and qualify for an "off season senior pass" camping is about a third of the regualr price. They keep a shower open all year. We usually spend at least a week in Nov. duck hunting and another week in Jan coyote hunting. Many folks launch there to hunt the dunes as it cuts of quite a bit of distance and they have two early season launch ramps but they can get icy late and they are steep but they have another much shallower ramp that works well once the water level is up. A number of guys access the Frenchmans hills wasteway from in the park but you have to cross the park boundry into the wildlife area before you can shoot. A mile or so west of the park by "C" road there is a small trailer parked by a potato barn that has self service firewood at a very reasonable price.
