It is sad anymore, the lack of skill with open sights. Most people jump right to a scope and never train themselves, their brains, or their eyes to effectively use open sights. In the long run if you can use open sights well it makes you a better shooter with scopes or whatever other sighting system you use. It is the same as the newer breed of shooters thinking more powerful scopes will make you a better shooter when in reality it is just compensating for a lack of skill.
That said, I would like to see a .01 fiber optic front sight for more precise shot placement.
