Long range scope options

I'm looking to get a new scope for my Model 700 30.06. I deer hunt in places that frequently require shots of 200-300 yards. This includes places like Jordan, MT and Okanogan county. What recommendations would you have?

any good 3-9X50 or 4.6-16X50 scope will be ample scope for 2-300 yard shooting.

3-9, 3.5-10, 4-16, 4.5-14 will all be fine.

Sight in the rifle to 200 yrds and you ill be a little over and inch high at 100 and a couple inches low at 300.

I love my Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14×40 SF scope with the BDC recticle. Out to 500 yards I can shoot with accuracy without guessing the hold over. I also shoot it on my Remington 700 SPS 30-06. This scope is FANTASTIC in low light situations, and better yet at $350.00 it doesn't break the bank!

Primary arms make a few nice scopes.  maybe higher power than you need, but they will give you the ability to stretch your legs whenever you want and are very affordable.

That might be a bit of a stretch. More like 7" at 300 yards.

Sorry I really wouldn't  get carried away with a of 06. A Vx3 in 4x14 is plenty of scope or one of the Nikon  BdC scopes would work well.  I'd probably pick a 165 grain bullet  .

Any scope with a parallax adjustment will get ya to 300 yards

I've never had a scope with parallax adjustment except a cheap Simmons which I got rid of ASAP. I shoot with no problem out to 350 yards with my 3.5-10 VariX-III. I'm sure it would be fine to 500, I've just never shot it any further than 350.

165 grain is what I shoot. I tried 180 at one point, but it's simply too much bullet. I've been looking at smaller caliber rifles with more velocity, but for now I'm sticking with the 06.

For shooting at long distances once or twice a year, you don't need to spend big dollars on a scope. Just learn you rifle/scope and practice shooting it and write it down for your dope.

your groups would tighten up with proper parallax. Didn't say you can't do it with out it. Even the cheap center point is used to run back in the day got me out to 500 but with proper parallax I was able to tighten up my groups to confidently take game at 500 yards with that setup. Jme
