greenling limit?
« on: July 28, 2015, 09:31:25 PM »
I can't tell what the limit is for greenling.

Could someone please help me out?

I'll be fishing for them a few miles north of deception pass. Thanks

BOTTOMFISH Year-round season. Daily limit is a total of 15 BOTTOMFISH (see definition page 10) regardless of species,
subject to individual limits and seasons shown below. See closures on previous page.

Greenling are considered bottomfish and are not listed below this section -- the limit is 15/day.

If you have a place where you can worry about a greenling limit, my wife (Weathergirl) would love to know it as they are her favorite fish.   ;)

Loki beat me to it

Salad shrimp or a small pink worm works the best for me. I can limit out on greenlings at neah bay but not inside. Although I have seen a ton diving off Matia Island

Thanks guys.

Everyone keeps telling me its 15 but I always think the regs make it sound like it would be a 2 fish limit...

Any advice on affordable bait. I don't want to buy 5/6 dollar jigs and lose 20 of them in the rocks.

Go get a sabiki rig & catch your herring around d-pass then go fishing or a 4oz. Diamond jig works well too

Affordable greenling bait = sand worms collected under rocks on the beach or in the mud from tide flats.  Greenling makes good fish & chips!   :EAT:

Same as sanddab, look up our previous thread on that.  From what WDFW has told me, its 15 limit.

Featherduster worms off the docks should make good bait.

The limit on "Kelp Green lings" depends on the area you are fishing. Now Green Ling Cod the limit is the same as the Red Ling Cod which is 2. Remember they are two different kind of fish, between the "Kelp Green Lings" and "Ling Cod", but the "Green Ling Cod, and the "Red Ling Cod" are the same fish.
