Weatherby's are great guns and I would love to get one but I have a few projects in the work to get one right now.

Very nice stickslinger!!  I was looking at one of those a couple weeks ago in .223 that had the break.  Not sure why you would want a break with a .223!  Loses about two inches of bore and the barrel is already pretty short.  What is the barrel length anyway?

Any idea on the purpose of milling the angles into the barrel over going fluted?

The barrel is 24", 2" longer than the one with break. I agree, you dont need a break on a .204 or .223. I think that is why they just put this on out without break. Lots of complaints about the break on the small caliber. They answered back quick.

I do not know the exact details on the thory behind the triangle barrel. There is some method to the madness. Supposedly has the capabilities of bull or fluted as far as heat transfer but half the weight. Thats really all I know.

Its still close to 9lbs though. About average.

I agree you don't need the brake on something this small. Looking at yours, I wish mine didn't have the brake. Were most of the complaints about the noise, or were there other complaints as well? Just looking for potential issues with my gun.

I was also looking at those didn't realize they came without the brake also. Maybe it is only a .204 thing. Nice lookin gun!

The VTR without a brake is a Cabela's Special according to the coupon I got in the mail. BTW, I have a coupon for $70 of the VTR without a brake at Cabelas if anybody wants it. It expires on the 18th I believe though.

For those wondering about the VRT without break. It is a Cabelas exclusive for now, cant even find it online. I guess they shipped out some in .223 and .204 to all the stores and then put it on sale to get them out there. It was $70 off (thanks again Antlershed). You dont need a cupon they have a stack of them at the gun counter or you can print it on line.

I'll give you a review on how she shoots tomorrow.
