Just ordered a Timney for my M77 243 tang safety
« on: August 03, 2015, 08:06:34 PM »
I'm hoping to improve some accuracy in my 243. I'm also trying to work up a killer load for Varmits and Deer. I think a new trigger should help with the load development. Has anyone put a Timney in a tang safety M77?

Sweet, you will need a Dremil  tool . You should bed the action at the same time. You tube bedding a m77 good tips on there.

Elk I did with a 30-06. There is a bit of wood 'hogging' that you will need to do to make it work, but i'm happy with the result. Bedding is next up for me to play with it some more. Thanks for the you tube tips coach

I ran into a bit of a snag while installing the timney. The part about 'with a hard flat stone, brake the edge of the sear'. I'm not sure exactly what they mean. Do they mean file, shave, grind or polish? and if so, how much? The picture in the instructions was very vague. With only a gentle polish on the edge of the sear, I installed the trigger but it wasn't catching the sear. Anyone else encounter this on their M77???

I have no idea about that. Nothing about that in my directions. I'll see if I saved them. I'd give them a call before I started hitting it with a stone or file.
