Lets see the pup in action, turn it loose in one of your pens...
Just playing. That sure is a cute pup.

Yeah, I was on a Chukar when little Dahlia came from nowhere and landed on it. I almost had a picture. Not sure how this is going to work. Bird dog and bird business. I am almost as bad as one of these tree hugging hippees living out on the winterrange and getting a big dog for the yard.

I'd have to look at a calender, but I think she is pushing 10 weeks. She is doing pretty well. A little nippy, but her adopted mommy is working on Not sure what would be the best live to work with.
Here is one of her trainers.
She wonders why the pup is getting all the attention.

The pup really looks good Bone. As far as bird dogs and bird pens I have had to fence the dogs out of my whole pen area. I did not always have it this way
but I learn pretty quick. It makes it a lot easier on me and the dogs, not the mention the birds. Every now and then one will get in and the birds go crazy. Thankfully it has not been during breeding season, and is generally short lived.
Benbo, a pigeon works great and are generally more readily available and cheaper, pull a few flight feathers and watch the fun begin. During the training of my last dog I got some coturnix quail and they worked good for the puppy stage. If you can find someone who raises them they are pretty cheap as well, usually around $3-4 for full grown birds. Coturnix are a weaker flyer and the pup (3-4 months old) could catch them in a large field. They are good for a plant or three but they end up dying of stress, providing the dog has a soft mouth.
