Which Four Dog Stove?
« on: August 05, 2015, 07:24:00 AM »
After doing all the research on stoves, I have decided to get a Four Dog. I have a 12x14 montana canvas wall tent. Do I go with the three dog stove or the Four Dog? I don't mind if it's not 100 degrees in the tent but I want it to be suffcient. Thanks

Three dog max. My three dog in a 10x14 is plenty!

Well I think it depends.

What is your age? Do you think you will ever get a bigger wall tent in your life?

I am 64 , I am scaling down, becoming more independent as a lone hunter camper. So I bought a tent I could set up by myself and a Three Dog because I do not plan to ever go bigger.

You can always under fire a Four dog, but a little tougher maybe to over fire a Three Dog.

Look at it as the last stove you will ever buy, Choose one for your life even if you may some day buy another.

My buddy bought a Four Dog for his 10x12.

Is weight or size a factor. Price difference between three and four.

Decide what suits your life and future. :twocents:

I don't plan on getting a bigger wall tent but you never know. I have always gone with a bigger hunting group in the past. I am 34 years old and starting to build my own camp. Eventually I can see having another wall tent for a cook shack. Thanks for all the info. Ghost hunter I have enjoyed reading your thread on your tent and stove.

We bought a Davis Tent that is 12x14 and according to the website a 3dog would have worked however we plan on adding a cook shack so I just bought a 4dog.

We had a new Kwik Kamp Inferno but a friend decided he needed to buy that one from me and made me a great deal, he's kinda a "bird in hand" guy and didn't want to order one.  lol.

If you think you might grow then upsize your stove I think you'll be ahead of the game.

If I planned on going out below zero I would go with the four, if not, the three would likely be plenty.  We have the three (I think) in the Bighorn III and I can get it pretty much sauna temp if I wanted to.
