I think shelf life is 20 years and that is just the freshness date (termed expiration date because that is when the freshness warranty expires), you could eat it next century and be safe. Too many people are so unreasonably (and ignorantly)worried about expiration dates, it is a fallacy of our modern and wasteful society that just because it has an expiration date it is unsafe, inedible, and downright disgusting just because an arbitrary date has been reached.
