Probably a stupid question, do mountain house meals expire?  Mine was made in 2013, still good?

I have eaten MH older than that and I am still alive. Take that for what it's worth  :dunno:

They do have expiration dates, I'm going to avoid food poisoning if I can

If you find a stick with alil for on one end and sharpen each side of the fork it works pretty well

Not going to get food poisoning from MH, that idea is only one step from impossible. I think shelf life is 20 years and that is just the freshness date (termed expiration date because that is when the freshness warranty expires), you could eat it next century and be safe. Too many people are so unreasonably (and ignorantly)worried about expiration dates, it is a fallacy of our modern and wasteful society that just because it has an expiration date it is unsafe, inedible, and downright disgusting just because an arbitrary date has been reached.

It appears you are correct,it's a freshness date and not an expiration date

Shed the tripod. Get a monopod and use it as a walking stick.
the tri pod really doesn't weigh as much as it looks, the wind river spotting scope has a bit of weight though.  My one mountain house meal was made in 2013, do these meals have an expiration?  No exp. date on the package?   I forgot to add the flask of crown, a few more ounces to add!
:yeah: on the tripod. Every now and then I think ill use my spotting scope. Just about everytime I dont use it, and wish I'd left it at home. :chuckle:

Isn't that the truth!  Only cows and calves so far, no reason to pull the scope out yet.  Sure is quiet and cool up here.

Scouting for wife's tag in the white river backcountry, exact spot, I will tell you after the season.  :chuckle:  couple other guys hitting this area, I'm sure they don't want me to advertise.
