Wall Tent Shrink? Question
« on: August 06, 2015, 09:09:09 AM »
Hey guys, hoping for some insight here.

At the end of last season I packed my tent up when it was still wet. It took me two weeks once I got home to set it back up to dry it out. When I put it back up it appeared to shrink atleast a couple inches and it didnt quit fit the frame!  :bash: This is a 6 year old tent so its not like it was new.

Is there a way to strech it back out so it fits or do you think I need to cut down the frame to fit again?

Also what do you guys use to reseal the canvas? I have heard one could spray it with Thompson Water sealer. Thoughts?

Set it up, soak it with water.  Stake and tie it down, re wet it and tighten it over and over.  Just did mine the other day.  Just go out and tighten your tie downs throughout the day.  Keep it wet and it will stretch.

Mine is 6 years old and hasnt needed resealed

Canvas like many materials will relax over short periods of time.

As said set it up stake it tight. Put blocks uder the legs and keep pulling tight. Wet it.
Pay close attention to the zippered areas ,door, windows, not to over stress them.
It might take some time, but you have perfect weather for it.

Once you get it back where you want it. Make. Sure it drys real good.
Sod flaps will hold water and moisture so when you are ready to take it down , pull the bottom stakes and lift the sod flaps up to dry a couple hours before take down.
