I joined the South Sound Londbeards (Tacoma area) about 8 years ago and have been involved with our JAKES (Juniors Acquiring Knowledge, Ethics and Sportsmanship) program and our annual Hunter Heritage fundraising banquet.  I currently serve as our chapter vice president.

Any other NWTF members on this board?

I was very active in the Lincoln County Longbeards Chapter, but they had a falling out with the state chapter and have not put on a banquet the last two years.   :'(

I can only find the national website do the local clubs have websites?  I'm in Grays Harbor county so whichever is closest, I'd love to get my son involved.

Some do, some don't.  Here's the State website.  There is an Aberdeen chapter and an Olympia chapter, I believe.

I am a member of the Narrows Strutbusters chapter in Gig Harbor. I have served a couple different posts last three years I was the treasurer. I took no position this year to play DAD a little more. I still am very active as well as my family but I do not feel guilty when a meeting is missed for a kids ball game or something. My Wife and kids have helped out with the banquets for four years now, we have helped at the fish pond our chapter puts on at Gig Harbors city event each June, both my kids have helped out at Turkey Hunter Care events, and I try to make at least one of the state meetings each year. My son and daughter have also come out to a few of the calling/hunting clinics our chapter puts on and helped out. I am a member of a lot of conservation groups but I seem to be able to have the FAMILY involved more with the NWTF so we will probably be around quite a while longer.

Unfortunately, I am no longer a member. My dad ran the Yakima chapter for three or four years, maybe more, I can't remember. Me and my brother were growing into our teens, and with sports and everything, he needed a break. Nobody would step in to take over, so he told the state chapter that the Yakima chapter was going to take a year off and that they would start again the next year. They basically told him that if they took a year off they would take all of the chapter's money, which I think??? was like 11 grand in funds we raised ourselves at sportsmans shows and whatnot. Needless to say there is no longer a Yakima chapter. Too bad, because we helped transplant a lot of birds, some of which the populations are thriving.

Moose, good topic !!!!!!!  Whats your name btw.
I know Jeff in the Tac chapter... crazy fugger !

I have been involved with the NWTF for years. Started in the North sound about 9 years ago.  Then when I moved to cali, I took a chapter over for someone departing.  Was chapter prs and dist dir for socal.  Moved back home to yakima and Dave wanted me to take that chapter over, but it just didnt work out due to me moving a short time later to the T cities..
I need to get ahold of the guys here and give them a hand !

I wish someone in Yak would be able to step up to the plate, as its just too far for me to travel.

Yep, a Yak chapter would be nice again. If anyone is interested in talking to some people from Yakima about starting a chapter there again, pm me and I'll give you some names of people that were pretty highly involved in the old chapter.
