340 or 400 spine if both shoot equally well?
« on: August 07, 2015, 08:33:56 AM »
Hey Guys,

Need to get some new arrows and am trying to figure out whether to get 340 or 400 spines.  I shoot a Bowtech Admiral set at 30" draw (29" arrow), 65lb draw.  From what I can tell my bow is shooting both almost equally well, the 400s group a little higher is all.

Thoughts?

thanks
tim

Have you shot broadheads yet?

340's for sure 400 are under spined for you I'm pretty sure.  What grain tip are you shooting?  That will make a difference as well.

Here is a arrow chart it's probably not the best chart but it gives you an idea.  Always better in my opinion to be on the stiffer side.  (minds out of gutter) :chuckle:

Shooting 100gr tips/broadheads.  And yeah Jonathan, I have shot both and they group almost identical for both the 340/400 spine.  I'm inclined to stick with the 340s since that is what I have used but thought I would check with the experts. :)

I'm surprised the broadheads didn't snake around on the 400s

Stay with the ones that you feel will work best with your equpitmen/draw weight/draw length. As others have said I like a stiff spine. I like to use the Easton Axis arrows, and put on my own Blazer 2" vanes.
