West side chocolate down!
« on: August 10, 2015, 06:44:43 AM »
After having a close envounter with a sow and cub saturday morning I decided to try a new spot.  I was able to drive into the clearcut and spent most of the afternoon looking for sign.  Wasn't much so I drove a road and ended up down in the bottom of the clearcut with some decent sign around.  I decided to park my truck right there at the end of the road knowing my wife was pretty exhausted.  I left her in the truck and told her to watch the area and I would be back in about an hour.  I started noticing more fresh sign and finally headed back for the truck.  I wanted to get my wife set up for a good chance.  As I got in view of the truck I could see my wife moving pretty frantically inside ao I threw my binos up as she looked back at me and started signaling there was something below the truck.  As I moved closer I saw the bear she told me to shoot it as she didnt have a good shot.  I layed down got a good rest and dropped him at 110 yards with my 7mm Mag.  First bear!  I think the best part was having my wife screaming you got him he is down from about 60 yards away.  It is the first kill she has ever been a part of.

Why do you only send me pictures of dead bears and your ugly mug in them?  Now a pretty girl in camo with a dead bear that's what I'm talking about.

Congrats!  Good read, well told, extra special to have your wife along.   Looks like beautiful color on that bear.  Love the dark chocolates.

This is my only other picture as it was hot and I was trying to get him taken care of.  He is a dark chocolate.
