Looking for trailcam advice
« on: August 10, 2015, 08:28:32 PM »
So I just checked 1 of my 2 cams this weekend, the cam I checked had 14k images on the ad card when I checked it, are these cams so sensitive that they will pick up movement in trees and such? Looking for some beginner tips couldn't check the other cam do the a bear bedded 10 yrds away from it.

Not gonna see much game around with a bear bedding in the area.

What was the camera that took 14 thousand pictures and did you get any animals or were the pictures of nothing?

Sounds like a perfectly functioning cam per a former member  :chuckle:

if you cant change the sensitivity setting on that cam then I would be trying to return it... a cam like that is pretty much useless

Change the settings or chop down all things that can move within view, if that don't work then try a few good wacks with a hammer then at least you will feel better :beatdeadhorse:

Test your  battery's. Some become unstable and trigger repeatedly if weak.
I'm not sure.

Didn't have a tag or didn't have a weapon for the bear?

Yeah i would say trim stuff but that doesn't sound normal for a camera to have that many.  I would think either it's malfunctioning or the sensitivity is too high.

Neither for the bear, not much of a bear hunter. An yes I'm tempted to check it this weekend just so I know I'm not wasting time with these cams if all I'm taking pictures of is leaves blowing in the wind.

I've got 1000 in one day when the battery's get weak. It takes current to not fire, when low it can become unstable and just start triggering non stop till completely dead.
I'm not sure.

Orientation is important. And if there are limbs or foliage it will snap a lot of useless shots. If you are over salt or other attracting, set your interval to 1 minute or more so you don't get a ton of pics of the same animal licking the ground for an hour. Buy a better camera  :dunno:
