Coolers?
« on: August 10, 2015, 09:43:39 PM »
No, not like in the Roadhouse movie, lol.  I'm a big fan of Coleman Extreme coolers. I've kept block ice and contents in them for close to a week before.  What do you cats like for top notch coolers?

I'm another coleman extreme guy can't argue with the results and can't justify buying a yeti or any other  $500 cooler.
Now then, get your equipment—your quiver and bow—and go out to the open country to hunt some wild game for me.  Gen. 27:3

I am with you guys on the Coleman extremes, I have the big white one and I have the extreme soft shoulder cooler as well.
They both are great, But the shoulder bag is killer.
I have the smaller Yeti as well and I would put the coleman extreme shoulder bag up against the yeti and wouldnt be suprised if the yeti gets spanked.
The only thing the yeti has going for it is its bear proff. :dunno:
one draw back is it takes 3 men and a boy to move the Yeti, dang thing is heavy. :o

Here is Coleman's answer to the Yeti.  The model series name is Esky.  It's pretty close to the same thinking as a Yeti.  Any way, thought I'd share as all you were talking about were Coleman's extreme series.  I believe the Esky is a level up from the Extreme, at least for toughness.

I took RadSav's advice and sealed and insulated my coolers fairly well.  An inch of hard foam board insulation on all 6 sides inside and an air tight blue RTV seal on the lid worked very well.  I've got ice blocks in my freezer now that are ready for reuse this year, and they spent 20 days in the coolers in September last year.  It was very impressive how well it worked.

 :yeah:

I have always used Coleman Extreme coolers and have been happy with them.  Other than having to change out a few hinges (the first time I broke one and had to order a replacement I ordered 3 extra pairs since I have two coolers) they have held up fairly well.  Last fall I got a Yeti as a gift and I like it as well.  Performance wise I do believe the Yeti is slightly better than the Coleman Extreme, but not enough to justify the price.  The durability of the Yeti is where I think they really outshine the Coleman.  My Coleman's are getting pretty beat up and separating at the seams after about 10 years of light use (maybe 3 - 5 times a year) not to mention the broken hinges and latches.  The Yeti will last many, many years beyond a typical Coleman.   :twocents:

Interesting!  Any particular brand or R value on the insulation board?
