Day hike/camera check gone bad
« on: August 11, 2015, 02:06:20 PM »
Well Sunday me and a buddy decided last minute to go check some cameras. We got through 2 of the 4 cameras on the way down to the 3rd camera my buddy. Makes a wrong step and tore his legiment from his knee to his lower leg. We are about 2 miles in on the trail and about a half mile at least straight down. We cut a couple small trees and cut them to size and used some camera straps and a bungie cord and made a splint for his knee. I got him up the hill 2/3 of the way up the hill and notice a couple of bear hunters I got they're attention and they came down and gave me a hand getting him out and stayed with us all the way out.and they  gave us a ride down to where we met up with another friend of mine. Didnt get home tell after 2am monday morning.I decided to leave my truck up there because the way we came in was way to sketchy to bring him down in so I had my dad bring me back up the next day to pick the truck up.

I hope the two bears hunters that helped me and my buddy out are members on here. So I can thank them again for everything they did.

That really sucks.  It's a good reminder of all that can happen to us out there.  Sorry about your friend.  I hope he makes a decent recovery, knees are so unforgiving an injury.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
