I use to carry the Swiss army key chain knife with the little ball point pen, but it always got snagged at the airport. But the old lady with 12" knitting needles is good to go

My fixed blade buck knife skinned and boned many animals for me and held an edge very well but a few years ago I tried a havalon and haven't sharpened a blade since. LOVE LOVE LOVE that little thing!

I carried a Kershaw for years. I switched to a 3.5" Hogue EX 01 with the G10 grips about a year ago and I love it. It's my daily carry knife and my preferred hunting knife.

I used to carry Buck alot, Kershaw folder, but I have gone to WR Case XX stainless for pocket and fixed. Easy to sharp up, hold edge, very well made.

Buck is my all time favorite, the ones from years ago so hard that they are almost brittle. Some folks say that they are hard to sharpen but hard to sharpen usually means that they stay sharp. My little Buck folder would still shave hair on my arm after gutting and skinning a moose. I found a Gerber once on the street, carried it as my daily pocket knife for a few years till I lost it. Nice size and shape but the steel was too soft for my preference. It is only a sample of one but it dulled easily. That's OK for a daily knock around blade but for serious back country work I like harder steel. Purely personal preference.
Lately I've been using my Outdoor Edge and really like it, but have not owned it enough years for it to replace the Buck as my all time favorite. I have both in my vehicle kit, but only take one in a pack or daypack.

For my pocket, I have a Laguiole that I love because it was given to me and the blade length and shape are nearly perfect for a pocket knife.
For hunting, I have settled on the Outdoor Edge knives. I have a Flip & Zip that is probably the single best gut & quarter knife as well as the Razor Lite. I have the Razor Pro on my want list as it would be nearly perfect for backpacking.

I have my grandfathers little two blade Case pocket knife he had for more years than I can remember. It was before the days of stainless steel and that little bugger sharpens up like a razor faster than anything I've ever seen.
He bought me one similar to it but stainless when I was about 10 and that thing was NEVER even close to being as sharp as his.

Buck has been my goto hunting knife as well. It was my grandpa's knife until he passed. My dad gave it to him as a gift in 1970. It has seen allot of animals over the years.
