3 legged record size columbian whitetail????
« on: August 15, 2015, 08:24:43 AM »
So fair warning....I by no means am a expert at scoring but last weekend while driving passed the whitetail refuge on hwy  4 last weekend we spotted this pair of bucks. One looked like a huge buck so pulled over to pull the camera out of the bag and throw the 300mm lens on. I only looked through the view finder on the camera so I couldn't tell how big it was for sure and for some reason my buddy with his Binos was only looking at the guy on the right and the other 2 bucks that popped out. Judging from the picture and I know the zoomed in picture is blurry but.... to me he looks like a tall non typical whitetail with 4-5in eye guards and a drop tine on his left and what looks like palmatted points on top with only 3 legs to boot??? Am I seeing this wrong? Has anyone else seen this deer on the refuge? It had no collar and was in the field just west of the hwy viewing station...

That's a dandy buck! Hard to tell by the pics. In the first pic it looks like he has all 4 legs. When its blown up it looks like its right rear leg could be missing. Butt I think its actually kicked up and the bottom part of the leg is blending in with his left rear leg. Hard to tell though.

That's what I was thinking but it's soooo hard to tell. And this is the only shot I could get off with my camera before the battery wouldn't let me snap anymore photos since emy wife decided to leave it switched on in the camera bag. So I'm glad I atleast got one picture  off lol. Really with I got more

I got out to take the picture and they didn't like that idea lol. As soon as my feet hit the ground they split! And Im not sure how well I would've done trying to scale the fence lol

Looks like it has all 4 to me. Right rear is just up as it's taking a step. Lined up with left rear.

I've never seen a thing at that viewing station.  Great find!  Stud buck!

I do every now and then but they always look like the guy on the right. Just a tiny typical whitetail. And I definitely see the leg now that everyone pointed it out!
