I like Dave smiths the best. That being said I dont own any. Can't afford them.  I run fully flocked avian x's which aren't the cheapest either but a solid decoy in my experiences.

Reading into the 'new guy' question; my suggestion is to buy used and re flock the heads and tails. Consider shells and silhouettes as well if you'll be field hunting.

DSD honkers without a doubt.

I have hunted and owned a couple hundred DSD's. I'm running RDC now. Handmade in the USA and every bit as durable as DSD.

Depends on budget.
If ya have deep pockets, Dave Smith are good, if not, Bigfoots.
Bigfoots are a pain in the drain to pack around because of the feet, but they are tough.  I have not bought any in 4 or 5 yrs, I hope they are as good as they were then.
Spent most of my $$ on huntin, fishin & retrievin dogs, the rest I just pretty much wasted.

Dave Smith Decoys.  A large investment, but a great decoy.  The new ACE ones have realy been solid.
Cut em!
It's not the shells!  It's the shooter!
