A couple Quick questions about limbs
« on: August 16, 2015, 02:36:47 PM »
I just had new limbs put on my bow.(one split) With my old limbs I was right at 67lbs, with my new ones I'm right at 73lbs. No problem as far as drawing it back, but it turns out that I am under spined at 73lbs with a 29" draw. I bought GT hunter xt 340s shafts a few months back. Cabelas chart said they were good for my poundage both 67lbs and 73lbs. I wanted to double check so I looked at the chart and it says that the 340s are good to 82lbs at 32 draw! BS! Was my first though so i went to GT website and found a proper chart. Anyways My question is how much, if any will my bow drop in poundage being the limbs are brand new?

Here is the link to the faulty chart http://www.cabelas.com/product/Hunting/Archery/Arrows-Shafts/Carbon%7C/pc/104791680/c/104693580/sc/104192280/i/103856580/Gold-Tip-Hunter-XT-Shafts/1978497.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fcarbon%2F_%2FN-1100022%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_103856580

They shouldn't be dropping any, 73 pounds should stay 73 pounds as long as whoever changes strings out is paying attention. If you had new cheap strings that stretch, that is where I'd expect loss in poundage over time.

:yeah: if anything will affect poundage or draw length it won't be limbs unless they fail. Strings will affect poundage and length tho

don't forget to make sure your total arrow weight (with broadhead) is at least 438 gr if'n you're hunting.
Old enough to know better.
Young enough to go for it.

Thanks guys, I kinda figured that but wanted to double check. And I order some new arrows in the 300s xts. They make the weight requirement
