Need help finding my daughter a bow
« on: January 12, 2009, 03:37:17 PM »
I am looking for recomendation for a bow for my daughter. I have been only shooting for only a couple of months myself so any info would be appriciated. She is 11 and she is left handed. She is approximatly 5ft 2. She couldn't quite pull moms bow back and it is 45lbs. My question is what would you recomend and where would you recomend? We are in the Shelton area.

My daughter is 11 and left handed as well. I found her a browning bow over the summer on ebay  for under 70 bucks

My daughter uses a Genesis by Mathews and loves it. Archery288 set it up for her with a Wisker Biscuit and Trophy Ridge sight. Its adjustable from 4lbs and up and is very easy for her to shoot.

My daughter is 11 as well and has shot a little youth Martin recurve the past two years. She'll probably move to the Browning Micro Midas this summer. Her brothers both started with the Micro Midas, then moved to the Micro Adrenaline and now full-sized bows. Lot's of adjustment in draw weight and draw length. Fun, easy to shoot, and lethal. That Genesis is another easy shooter.
May the morning silence be broken with the wisp of vanes trailing blades to their mark.

Check out the new Diamond bows they are made for beginers and have room for a ton of adjustment as they grow and get better.

I would recommend a Genesis as well. When my daughter was ten I got her a Genesis and had a sight and Whisker Biscuit added. It was an excellent first bow.

here is my  :twocents: It all depends on how much you wanna spend and whether she will out grow it quickly. the genesis is a great starter bow but she would probably out grow it quickly. if I'm not mistaken it only goes to 30lbs. the browning adrenaline and micro midas are 30-40 and 40-50 lbs. bowtech just came out with the razors edge, and it goes from 30-60lbs. (its either 50 or 60, but i'm pretty sure its 60) that is a huge margin for the youngsters. Take her to the bow shop and see what she can pull back and go from there, just make sure there is enough movement in the future as far as lbs. and draw length.

My son has the 2008 Diamond Edge, this bow is sweet, he had the Genesis before and since he got the Edge has improved his accuracy a lot.

Take Tonymoe's advice.  Take her to a shop and see what she can pull.  I bought my 11 yo daughter a Hoyt Trykon Jr for Christmas and it has worked out great for her since she does not have alot of upper body strength.  Infact tonight was the first time she really got to put alot of arrows through it since they were out of youth releases and with all the snow after Christmas we couldn't get to the shop.  Doug at Great NW Archery spent alot of time with her this evening getting her set up just right.  I had to pull her away, she didn't want to quit shooting.  :)
