Elk tips in this hot weather

I'm doing back country ML but it looks like it should be just as warm as last year.  Any of you real experienced folks want to start a warmweather hunting tips thread for back country hunting?

I plan to find steep and deep areas up in higher elevations, so I'm taking plenty of water and looking for solid water sources along the way (for both me and the elk).
