The first advice would be scout.  I scout everyday for the birds.  Then set up according to the wind.  Late season I vary the decoy spread according to how the birds react.  Sometime I have moved the spread a few times until the birds start coming in good.  Stay well hidden as it will improve your shoot, unless you have a prime spot where they just come in.  I have pulled all the wind ducks at this time as the birds are very educated on them.
You can also look at other duck hunting sites.  Their is a ton of info that can help you out.

put out decoys where you have seen ducks before.  If you are not competent with a call, dont use it.  Be well hidden, dont move when they are working.
Try to hunt with an experienced hunter and watch and learn

This is a good site to get information from along with ducks unlimited site.  A wigeon / pintail whistle can help you out for call shy birds, it doesn't take to much skill to get you by.

Check out the Washington Refuge Gang at duckhunter.net

Scout!!! Being on the X is the biggest thing by far in waterfowling if you want a quality hunt......don't skimp on yer call and when you do use the call don't use it too much...by a calling CD and listen to it...I would reccomend Zink Call's Mallards Gone Wild cd it really helped me.

Good luck and if you have any questions shoot me a PM I consider myself a pretty good waterfowler and hunt almost every day killin hundereds in a season  8)
