daughters first shed!
« on: January 13, 2009, 06:14:18 AM »
took my 2-1/2 year old daughter out shed hunting on Saturday and we found a couple. I spotted them and told her which way to walk, she had no problem spotting them and running over to pick them up. I think I better buy a backpack to put her in, after 6 or 7 miles with her in my arms and on my shoulders I was worn out. I also took my wife out last weekend and found 7 sheds. 2 fresh so far, a 71" and a 68" 4pt. Judging by the number and quality of bucks we've seen, it's going to be a great year. I'd also like to mention that I'm not pushing the deer around much. I wish the bucks would wander off some day that I'm there, we found 6 sheds in 1 small area but I couldn't go any farther because there were about a dozen bucks hanging out including a 30"-31" 4x5. I can't wait until the end of February! the pictures are too big, can someone resize them for me or tell me how?

Thats what I used was a backpack.  MUCH easier to balance, see and your arms don't fall off.

I tried a backpack last year and it was easier but one of her boots fell off and I had to back track a mile to find it. hehe. I guess I should tie them tighter!

Open the pics with Microsoft paint, most computers come with it. Resize them, cut them back to 20%. If you want just send it to me and I will do it. bigair163@hotmail.com

i put my daughter in a kelty wanderer when hiking and it works well. i found mine on craigslit for $70 never used. it has a pack part too to stuff a few small things in and a rain cover for the kid.

awesome pic and it looks like she'll be hooked.

Been there, done that...

That is a cute photo!  Looks like she's got the fever for shed hunting now.

That makes me want to have kids right there... the year of nights with out sleep kinda dampens that urge though... yeah i can wait. Great pic though thats great. She'll be hooked forever. Couldn't be more proud...
