I see on YouTube videos bears run away when shot at. Russian bears in eastern Siberia run to get you, especially when lightly wounded. It is either you die or they die...
Are local black bears different?

i know 2 out of the 3 bears I have shot with my bow would have been a little scary if I was not in a tree stand. The two times they were pissed when that arrow hit. They growled and chomped and spun around. Those two were males, the third that just ran was a sow. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. This last friday when I was checking cams I had a bear walk right toward me coming out of a trail from 60 yards get to about 30 while I was standing there watching it. I was only in a gray shirt and shorts in the open... I wonder how close it would have came if I were in camo. That could have been exciting.

I just shot a sow Black Bear at 70 yards in Northeast Washington and it only made it about 40 yards and let out a big breath that sounded like a deer blowing. It was a heart/double lung shot. Bear are tough, but if you hit the right spot they go down hard and quick. Just don't take questionable shots on ANY bear. They are powerfull, fast, and quiet animals. They have alot of fat and are very greasy, so if you make a bad shot the blood trail is usually poor, and you likely will not find the bear, or worse it will find you.

I have heard of black bears coming towards the hunter before and/or after a shot, but personally have never seen it. I think it would have to be a conifident and aggressive bear.

The little boar my brother shot with a 7mm mag came at him and died about 6 yards from him. He says now that he believes the bear just naturally ran that direction after the shot. Im thinking the same, mortaly hit bear usually don't charge, they just sometimes run in the direction of impact. Hence how a bear will spin around several times when stuck with a broadhead/arrow and wildly run off in any direction.

I shot one at 20 yards a few years back. He was knocked over and I thought dead when he jumped up and came running straight at me! A very good reason to chamber another round pronto! He was pissed and I am sure looking to get even. 2 more shots and he dropped at 10 feet. This was in the little Naches area.

These stories make bear hunting. How much fun would it  be hunting if they all ran the other way.

I put a arrow in a big boar, it ran off then starting raining hard so I didn't want to lose the blood trail so I ran home got a gun, was able to get back on him and dogged the *censored* outta him til he had enough and charged me, shot him right between the eyes at 3 yrds. I almost *censored* myself. So yes u can get f@#ked up but I imagine its rare, most I see turn tail.
