Hmm. I went to Colville last Saturday and ALL the roads on the west side of Sherman and on the south roads had trucks parked there to keep people out. The roads up on 21 just have signs telling us what evac levels each road is.

Basically, if you're smart, stay away from here. We don't need any more problems with hunters causing them.  :bash:

Same with Okanogan and Stevens Counties too.... :bash:

I don't think some of you know or understand, we have close to 60,000 acres on fire in the north half, if you guys know what that means.
That is the north half of Ferry County, NOT including the Colville Tribes North Star fire of nearly 150,000 acres.
I couldn't care less about what anybody says..............

kind of a catch 22 over that way.  Businesses could use hunters/tourist money, but the area certainly doesn't need the extra pressure of hunters and hunting camps in the area.  If you aren't over there to see what's going on you have to understand the sense of trauma and stress that even those not in immediate danger are feeling.  The intense smoke creates  a feeling of gloom and doom and virtually everyone  has been personally effected or has family or friends who have.  I won't say don't go over, but I would say that you need to be sensitive to what is really a major disaster in the NE corner. Hunters sneaking into closed areas or onto closed roads or thinking they gotta have a campfire are just one more problem that the area certainly doesn't need.  There are plenty of places in the state to go that aren't effected, and I'd recommend taking a good look at them.

I know I will probably take some heat for this but I almost hope people just decide to skip the hunting this year. Spend the time helping people rebuild and prepare for the winter instead.

Helping people rebuild what? and use our own money? thats what insurance is for! Most of whats burning in ferry is far away from homes..its burning vast mountain areas right now.

How far could you get up on Hwy 20? Could you get to Sherman? I know three different fires in Ferry. One Graves Mnt is right adjacent to Hwy 20 before Sherman. The link provided by Upthecreek....works and shows closers and reasoning. So west of south Sherman is open, but I do know that a fire is right up to Lane Creek which is east of the closed area.ni would stay away until things get better in about a month.

Johnathan S it's funny that you mentioned Late season Whittail hunting in Unit 101...there is no late season firearm  hunting in 101, what late season whitetail hunting do you do there?
He said, he late archery hunts there. I don't believe he said anything about late mf in 101.

Never mind, if you don't already see it then it would take to long to explain it to you
