I'm pretty sure people are greatly underestimating just how dry things are out there!!!! It's unlike any other year we have had in recent history! My best friend is the commander on the Springdale fire and he called me for a minute last Friday morning. He said you simply can't believe just how bad it is right now. He claims he has never seen anything like it.

can somebody please tell me why WDFW isn't emailing everyone about this? You'd think that with the season right around the corner, the state should notify license holders to steer clear of closed areas whether it's WDFW owned land or National Forest land.  I hadn't heard about this Sherman closure until I saw this thread today.  How many people will drive 6 hours over there and find out they don't have access? Yes, the majority checks on access before they leave home but not everyone...

Thanks

Why should they email you?
Doesn't everyone have Facebook?

Or you can go to the WDFW facebook for free.

Perhaps this will be where they post it.

Not everyone has Facebook. I do not.
Every thought of my being is in regards to being a high tech predator and I relish the role.

So basically the only area of 101 that is still open as of right now is south of 20 and east of the crest, gonna be crowded if it stays that way.  Glad I didn't get my moose tag, but that season is still 2 months long, they didn't split it.  Black moose won't stick out in black forest like other animals.

When we have broken the record for fire size 2 years in a row, we have issues.  It is not going to get any better, I wouldn't be surprised if the Okanogan Complex and the Northstar merge before they are contained and out.  Wouldn't want to be living in Republic right now, Colville is close enough.

I think for what that's worth from 21 east to 395 and from the border south to 20 is closed.

I refuse to believe that.  And what falling snags on Vulcan Mtn?  There is no fire there!  I'm referring to this specifically:

Date(s): Aug 25, 2015

Contact(s): Fire Information Center 509-684-7263, 509-684-7261, 509-684-7260

Colville National Forest land north of State Route 20, west of State Highway 21, South of the Canadian border and east of the Okanogan Forest Boundary is temporally closed to public access until further notice due to fire suppression activities and large fire activity.

Called the Republic Ranger Station and was informed that ALL of Colville National Forest is closed for recreational activities (I.E. Hunting).  There will be no updates until Sep. 12th when they will re-assess the closures.
