Hey guys, this is my first forum post so please bear with me. My name is nick and I am a 19 year old aviation student at Big Bend Community College here in Moses Lake. Just today I passed my Field Day and I want get into Coyote hunting (already bought electronic decoy and Ecaller). However; I am the only one in my family and group of friends that is into hunting so I have close to zero knowledge or how to go about it and nobody to go about it with. So I was wondering if anyone wants a partner to hunt with and maybe wants to point me in the right direction? Literally any help would be appreciated!
Thanks Guys,
Nick

Ok. My coyote sweet spot. I don't get to go as much as I'd like but I want someone to whack them. Head towards potholes state park, then head towards the Seep Lakes, and head back towards VIRGIN/NORTH NORTH WINDMILL lake. You can park at MARCO POLLO lake. It's about 1.5 mile hike. Set up on a high rocky outlook an start calling. Or just hike around and see them.

I would for sure try it. Go hike around the flats up above virgin and north windmill. I think the coyotes like to go out in the fields behind there at night and early morning. Anyhow I've killed one back there and missed to many haha I like to hike around and hunt them like deer it's fun.

So if your looking at Marco pollo, virgin is straight back. You can see a big cliff/plateau from the parking spot at the white pillars, just start hiking for that it's about 1.5 miles

This morning I tried some Feel Free to hunt land. Ten minutes after getting out of the car while wandering through the sage brush, on a hill side about 200 yards ahead of me, I just happened to catch some movement; it turned out to be a coyote sniffing along. Barely believing my eyes, I fumbled around in my bag trying to find my range finder and shooting stick. After what seemed like a lifetime I found them and found out and got a distance of 210 yards. My electronic caller and decoy was still packed up and I have yet to field test it so I had no other way to lure it in, so while trying to steady my scope the best I could, I yipped (as I have seen on youtube videos to get the coyote to stop moving) and took the shot. My scope was swaying so bad from the adrenaline that once I fired I quickly reloaded and looked down the scope, I didn't see it anywhere and I quickly cursed myself for missing my first chance; However, I looked back to where the coyote had been where I took the shot and saw two legs sticking up out of the hay. I was amazed. I walked up the hill and saw that I had hit the coyote in the head. (using a 30-06 with 150gr lokt core ammo made the sight pretty gruesome). Although I believe luck played a great deal in the shot, it was a good start to my hunting career and I was pleased that the coyote was lights out before it even hit the ground. On the way back to the car I was greeted by the farmer who owned the property and he was pleased to hear that he had one less coyote to worry about. Long story short, I think i'm hooked!

we camp annually at the lower windmill lake. I have tried just about every year out there, and never pulled any in. I hear them all around there at night/morning though. I think part of the issue is we are always there mid summer.

I know the area pretty well though, now that I live on the eastside, maybe I'll have to make another trip out that way during the winter.

Do you intend to keep using the 30-.06 for coyote?

I actually just bought a ruger American .223 so I will now be using that gun for coyote. Send me a pm anytime and we can meet up somewhere and try our luck.

Bennick found out the top end of the seep lake road is gated off again this year.   Access is via the bottom end of the road near Othello.
