Id say 22-250 in your case if its under 200 yards and anything farther 257 weatherby with a 115 grain accubond my absolute favorite caliber in the world!

Out of those choices I'd go with the 25/06. Use a bullet that won't blow up, maybe a Partition. No core lokts!

I think that's what Im taking. It's a 22 inch barrel if I remember right. It will fit on my ATV perfectly too.

I don't own a 243. I have a 6.5 Creedmoor which is much better in my mind. IF, I have the luck to see one even within a reasonable range, I don't want to blow it up. I think my 140 grain VLD's would do that.


I did check the Idaho game laws and I did not see any caliber restrictions for anything. Weird or old age and can't read..

i don't think they do have any restrictions on cal. I know of people using a 22-250 for deer in Idaho     6.5 I'm sure would be a great wolf cal.  Maybe a fmj style bullet would be a better choose fur wise

For what it's worth, I was in idaho for the rockchuck derby and talked quite a bit to a local about Wolves. He said he's seen quite a few but there a mile away and going the other way!
