The head is in the Beatles at a buddy's house.  I plan to meet him on Thursday, I will post it then.

I'm betting 6 to 6 1/8"

I had a chance to measure the H1 on my buck.  For those of you interested is taped out between 7 1/8 and 7 2/8 on both sides with a regular cloth tape measure.

Meathunter that is a tremendous buck, Congratulations!

That's massive congrats!

Tough year in my area.  Pathfinder JR gotter done on the 2nd day of the season though.  243 yards offhand.  Tumbled him on the first shot, deer got back up, tumbled him again.

Way to go PATHFINDER JR. Nice buck young man!

The girl and I got it done opening weekend. She only had Saturday and a bit of Sunday to hunt after leaving for our hunting grounds right after work Friday night and arriving at 1am. At about 10 am I spotted two bucks crossing a face at 650 yards. A nice 4pt and a wide/heavy 2x3. We started making our move but they were crossing at a good clip and made the ridgeline out of sight. We were making our way around to them when she taps me on the shoulder and points across the draw behind us, and there stands a nice 3x4 and a smaller buck. I told her to get set up but it was a bit of a cluster since we were on a steep hillside and she couldn't get her bipods deployed. She finally got squared away and took a shot and the buck took off like a shot. I thought I heard a hit but the buck made no indication of a kick or humping up. We crossed to him and came around the corner to find him standing there, pumped another one into him and down he went. We were back to camp by 1!

Sunday morning we headed up the canyon again. I spotted the same 4pt I had seen the day before about a mile and a half up the canyon in some rocks. Spend the next three hours stalking him and after setting up on him at 300 and 200 yards and having nothing but a head shot and him unwilling to stand up , I made my way around to him and kicked him up at about 10 yards and put him down at about 60 with a single shot to the base of the neck. He may be my best buck yet. It was great to go two for two.

I do not, however, plan on returning to this area. On Monday I was messing around while the others in camp were in the hills and watched 6 wolves tear apart a deer. We found another wolf kill on Monday. The deer numbers are really dwindling after the last few years and it is a truly sad sight to see...

Congrats to all on the successes here and thank you all for sharing!

2015 Meat hunt in 1010!

Both boys could have taken whitetail does, but the 11 yo Chris Brackett wannabe really wanted a legal buck. He was pumped with the little mulie! One shot at 218yd! Really proud of him! One knee off sticks, shattered the brisket and ruptured one of the big vessels coming out of the heart.

9 yo wanted a buck too, but after the first morning on the steep, he was ready to go to the flat for a doe. He smashed her spine with his first shot at 70yds. Big redemption form 5 misses last year!

I was hunting, but pretty much guided them for those two opening day, then went out myself and I got the little 4x4 whitey the next morning. Legal buck, Boom! Done!

(We'll definitely get to the high country for horns in the next few years. For now, this is sure fun!)
