South Dakota DIY Pheasant help.

Afternoon all. I am interested in a South Dakota DIY Pheasant hunt for 2016. I have all the info from the Game Dept. My plan is to work east hunting at public/state areas. I am looking for any insight or tips about hunting there. I'm not looking for anyone's favorite spots, just the do's and dont's. Thank you for any help.
