50 cal CVA Elkhorn Pro Magnum Range day
« on: September 03, 2015, 07:29:13 PM »
I have been afraid to shoot my muzzy all summer due to the dry conditions. Hope the weather cooperates. I got this muzzy for free last year from my cousin who neglected to clean it a seized the breach plug. After some WD40 and gentle heating on the breach with a propane torch the plug is free and clean, bore is clean and a new No. 11 nipple in place. need to buy a capper and some speed loaders and I am set.

everything looked pretty good to me, I need to see If I can find a video online on how to tear the bolt down and clean inside of that, its the only place I haven't been able to get through, I did soak it in wd40 overnight.

Ok after some heavy wind and rains, Range day has Friday at the Prosser shooting range with my Dad :) any of you locals that have access to the range come say hi! I'm stoked to spend the day with my Dad prepping to spend more time together. Also Saturday morning we are going to go hit the lower snake above Ice Harbor for some coffee drinking and bank fishing for Steelhead

Sidebar, Does anyone shoot .45 cal muzzies anymore?

I have searched the web for about an hour looking for instructions on how to disassemble the bolt on one of these. Does anyone know how, or is anyone able to send me a link to a video?
Carried this post over from another thread.

OK. My gun is sighted in. Dead on at 100Yds. I need a small waist pack for storing my accessories in, Looked at the Cabelas outlet in Union Gap, Cascade farm and outdoor, Bi Mart and Ranch and home. Cant find one small enough. Anyone have any suggestions?

Quart-sized Ziplock freezer bag in my hunting pack works for me.  I usually hunt with a Badlands Monster because I don't like day packs.  Speedloaders and capper stay in my front hip pocket of the pack.  If you're hunting without a pack...start.  It's awfully nice to have knive(s), game bags, rope, nitrile gloves, snacks, water, compass, GPS, PLB, firestarters, emergency shelter, first aid kit, etc.

I found a great little pack at Wal-Mart in the sporting goods section for about $8.  It's a Fieldline Pro Series brand, accessory belt pack.  Makes a great possibles bag with plenty of room for spare caps, bullets, speed tubes, cleaning jags, tools, BP grease, etc.
It must be a poor life that achieves freedom from fear.
