Archery range near Lacey/Oly area?
« on: September 06, 2015, 09:31:52 AM »
Is there a known distance range that will let me shoot out to 80 yds or so? If not I would just settle for a range, unfortunately I live in Lacey and according to the police shooting a bow in the city limits is illegal.

Yeah no ranges in Oly.  Even the sportsmanship club down south doesnt have an archery target.  The closest is the skookum archey in puyallup.  I wouldn't advise buying anything form there except a ticket to shoot the course.

Neither of those have any archey targets. I was told they did, drove over an hour and was told they don't and left.

I forgot these guys have a range.  This is probably your best bet as there is little traffic to deal with and if I recall, have a walk through course that is open occasionally as well as the target range.

This is from the Capital City page under the archery section, are these no longer there? I ask because I don't live far and have been kicking around the idea of joining...

I think its still there, I'm out there a couple of times a week, but I'm on the pistol range.

I will give another vote for Lucky Shot.  Not that far and a great range(s).  Just can't shoot there on Sundays anymore because some moron shot into the church parking lot last month and hit a couple occupied cars.

Firearms are illegal in many areas but I'd find it hard to believe that shooting a bow safely within the city limits would be illegal.

Depends on where you live.  A lot of cities have ordinances that consider bows a dangerous weapon and make it unlawful to shoot them.

Capital city bowmen/capital city rifle and pistol have a pretty nice range and isnt too far from olympia.

Lucky shot is a little further but is nicer and you don't have to be a member.

get your own target and take it out to capitol forest to shoot. I stopped shooting in the yard after my neighbor behind me sent an arrow into my yard and hit my patio door. Since he elected not to shoot in the yards I am doing the same. Find a nice dirt bank to put target against and step off some distances.

I did not read througout the entire thread, but, I beleive JBLM (both McChord A.F. and Fort Lewis) have Archery Ranges.  I think you could also just go up to Capitol Forest and set up a makeshift site. Heck a lot of people just go up there and shoot their pistols, I think.
