I can relate. When at my little brothers funeral in NC, His friends kept asking me if it was true that we would spend two weeks in the woods elk hunting, with no running water, a toilet, shower etc.. I said of course, it's what we do. We are hunters. They then looked at the photo logs that my brother kept of his experiences and the things that he saw, things that you can only see in the woods, and began to understand what his passion was about.
I just got back from 9 days of bowhunting in Idaho. I hate when people at work as me where I am going - I just tell them that I am going backpacking and they say "oh, ok" approvingly.

That's one reason why I thoroughly love being retired!!! I don't have to answer to anyone!!
