2 weeks in the forest..you must be crazy

Yup I'm crazy addicted.  Who else gets that look from people when you mention you are going to stay out in the woods and hunt for 2 weeks.  My boss lives in Philadelphia and thinks that I am nuts.  I just laugh and ask if I can stay 2 more.

I've had supervision give me a blank stare when I say, a week off for hunting.

If I was traveling across the country for a wedding they'd understand

I just got back from 9 days of bowhunting in Idaho.   I hate when people at work as me where I am going - I just tell them that I am going backpacking and they say "oh, ok" approvingly.

I can relate. When at my little brothers funeral in NC, His friends kept asking me if it was true that we would spend two weeks in the woods elk hunting, with no running water, a toilet, shower etc.. I said of course, it's what we do. We are hunters. They then looked at the photo logs that my brother kept of his experiences and the things that he saw, things that you can only see in the woods, and began to understand what his passion was about.

My buddy and I are heading out for 9 days  I tell everyone at work that I am going Camping or Backpacking so I dont have to hear there crap.  Got everything loaded in the packs, can't wait for Friday!

The people who are crazy are the ones who arent going in for weeks!

Most states it is pretty hard to get away for more than most the day.  Like a lot of the northeast, you can see through the 'woods' from one highway to the next.

I feel like I need at least a few days to fully detach from normal life before I can really settle in and enjoy the "get away from things" aspect of the hunt. We will be gone for up to 9 days and I can't wait.

I do the same thing with the new ones... then I ease them into the whole hunting thing.  Every once in a while someone surprises me and is actually interested in hunting.

Same with being in high school. I just have my dad call and say we'll be gone for a week. No questions asked. If we get something on the last day and I have to stay a little longer, mom calls and says I'm sick.
